About Okapi Trading Company:
Okapi Trading Limited is a trading company
incorporated in Uganda in 2004. The company imports and distributes products
including Baharat Salt, Kyoga, Chiluma, fat oils for biscuits manufacture
and general merchandize in Uganda.
As a fast expanding agency, we are urgently looking for someone with at least
five years’ experience in managing commercial aspects of a specialized trading
company- who is hardworking, organized, creative and passionate about maximizing
profits for the company to take up a position of Regional Exports manager in charge of new markets establishments in
COMESA Regional markets and beyond.
A qualifying candidate will serve as intermediary between foreign buyers and our company and will be tasked to find buyers internationally for our products.
Duties
As a middleman, he/she will plan and coordinate the international shipment of goods. During the course of the day, he/she may negotiate with a variety of people, such as shippers, agents and vendors, and are expected to have excellent customer service skills in dealing with customers. The manager will also often be responsible for personnel management, which often includes the hiring, training and supervision of staff.
For the accounting function, export manager may keep track of invoices and prepare reports to expedite the billing process. He/she may also have to ensure that shipments are in compliance with the laws and regulations governing the export industry.
Requirements
A qualifying candidate must have a Degree in Marketing, (International) Business, and Finance or any other related field but a master’s degree in business administration or related fields and Training in sales management or marketing is an added advantage. The applicant should also have excellent customer service skills and knowledge of export laws and regulations. The ability to communicate in a foreign language relevant to a company's targeted markets may be helpful but not a limitation. A candidate should have ability to easily comprehend and organise shipment process, have knowledge about budget management, international trade and taxations.
Certification Requirements:
A qualifying candidate should have Professional certification from a recognized institute, preferably The International Import-Export Institute (IIEI) or Certified International Trade Professional (CITP)
Specific Responsibilities
- Consultation of the clients regarding insurances, duties and taxes
- Monitoring of the shipments to ensure the compliance of regulations
- Search for possibilities to reduce taxes
- Maintenance of customer relations and participation in the organization's sales activities
- Assessment of new marketing and sales opportunities as well as presentation of those estimations to the respective managements
- Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of imports and exports
